My cat, Mr. Cuddles, presents the meaning of the word “insipid” in video form. He presents the meaning of the word in context saying, “I was reading a book that was so insipid. It just bored me to sleep.” From the context clues in the sentence, it can be seen that the word “insipid” means boring or uninteresting. I am sure that a challenge that many ASVAB tutors face is how to present ASVAB vocabulary words to students. In my ASVAB prep course, I realized I needed to present the ASVAB in a memorable way. I provide context clues in the sentence I use, and I use a talking cat. A talking cat is definitely more memorable than a list of definitions. Vocabulary is an important part of my course even though I spend more of my class time on ASVAB math help.
