Word Knowledge Question on Suffix -Saur

What does the suffix -saur mean?

As an ASVAB tutor, I make sure to review suffixes as well as prefixes and root words with my class.  -Saur is a Latin suffix.  There are a number of English words with the suffix -saur.  Some examples are dinosaur, pterosaur, hadrosaur, stegosaur, carnosaur, apatosaur, supersaur, and nothosaur.  These are all names of dinosaurs.
