Women’s Veterans’ Day June 12

In working as an ASVAB tutor, I like to honor the military by presenting their various holidays, observances, and anniversaries in my blog

Today, June 12, is Women’s Veteran’s Day.  This day marks the anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act.  This act was a United States law that enabled women to serve as permanent, regular members of the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force.  This date is not recognized nationally but is recognized by numerous states.  Among the states that recognize this day are California, Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.  The first Women Veteran’s Day was celebrated in 2018. This day is a tribute to the monumental day when women were acknowledged as essential to the military’s war efforts and were able to serve regularly in the armed forces.
