Word Knowledge

In my book, The ASVAB Tutor’s Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension Study Guide, I have charts of prefixes, root words, and suffixes.  Knowing the Latin and Greek roots can boost your vocabulary score on the ASVAB.  Vocabulary questions are found on the Word Knowledge section of the ASVAB.  Improving your vocabulary also help with reading comprehension skills which are tested on the Paragraph Comprehension Section of the ASVAB.

Today I present a question on Word Knowledge.  The question is about a suffix.  The suffix is

-gamy.  There are a number of words in the English language with the suffix -gamy.  Knowing the meaning of this suffix would help with the understanding of the meaning of words that have this suffix.  Examples of words that consist of the suffix -gamy include the following words:

monogamy, polygamy, bigamy, endogamy, misogamy, etc.

Do you know what any of these words mean?  If so, does knowing the meaning of any of these words help you to know what -gamy means?

The question is:

What does the suffix -gamy mean?

A. Marriage

B. Game

C. Word

D. Help

I will present the definition of the suffix -gamy tomorrow as well as the definitions of the above listed words with the suffix -gamy.
