Today is the U.S. Navy SEAL’s birthday.

As an ASVAB tutor, I see the importance of presenting special days in military history.  The American military has a rich history that deserves to be celebrated.  I tutor people who plan to enter any of the military branches of the United States: Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Army National Guard, Air National Guard, and Space Force.  I have met different students who needed to review for the ASVAB since they needed a higher score to become a Navy SEAL.

Today is the birthday of the U.S. Navy SEALs.  The Navy SEALS was founded on January 1, 1962.

This date was the official date of the beginning of the United States Navy’s Sea, Air, and Land Teams (SEAL) and was established under the rule of President John F. Kennedy.  The origin of the Navy SEALs actually started during World War II when special maritime units were used.

In order to become a Navy SEAL, there is a 6-month SEAL training course.  This course is known as the BUD/S program, Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training.  This military training is held at the Naval Special Warfare Training Center in Coronado, California.  It is one of the most selective special operations programs in the U.S. military.
