I posted a long division problem on my Instagram page yesterday. The problem showed an incorrectly solved problem posted by someone else. Today I showed my explanation of how to do long division. To teach the students in my ASVAB prep course how to work on long division, I present the question, “Does McDonald’s Serve Cheese Burgers?” This seems like a random question to be asked by someone who tutors for the ASVAB. It does have a significant meaning though. The question, Does McDonald’s Serve Cheese Burgers? represents the steps of long division: Divide, Multiply, Subtract, Check, and Bring Down. Teaching people a simple way to remember the steps of long division does help in preparing for the math sections of the ASVAB. The explanation can be seen in my video. Enjoy!
