Blatant

Word Knowledge

Yesterday I presented a question on the word “blatant”.

Do you know what the word “blatant” means?  “Blatant” does not consist of any prefix, root word or suffix that would give you a clue to its meaning.  Blatant means outright or obvious.  An example would be a blatant lie.  When someone tells a blatant lie, it is an obvious lie.  If someone is having a blatant affair, they are not hiding their relationship. It is out in the open for all to see.  As an ASVAB tutor, I remind my students to make sure they study vocabulary to boost their ASVAB vocabulary scores.
