Mr. Cuddles® presents the vocabulary video for the word “ambidextrous”. He says, “So just because I carry me sword in my right hand doesn’t mean I can’t equally use it in my left hand! Arrrrgh!” The word “ambidextrous” means equally skilled in using both hands. This is one of the vocabulary words I cover in my ASVAB prep course. In addition to providing ASVAB math help, I make sure to emphasize the importance of studying for the Word Knowledge section of the test. The sentence provided by Mr. Cuddles® provides context clues to the meaning of the word “ambidextrous”. The root word “ambi” is a Latin root that means both. The Greek version of this root is “amphi” which also means both. I provide context clues for the words that are being presented. Don’t count on receiving helpful context clues on the real ASVAB. The question might say, “What does ‘ambidextrous’ mean?” You might receive no context clue at all. As someone who tutors for the ASVAB, my advice to you is to study ASVAB vocabulary, prefixes, root words, and suffixes.
