Cause and effect questions are common questions in the Paragraph Comprehension section of the ASVAB. Cause and effect questions ask about the cause and the result of certain events in the story. As an ASVAB tutor, I remind my students of the different strategies that help in answering the different types of reading comprehension questions. The different types of questions include main idea, detail, vocabulary, sequence, inference, cause and effect, author’s tone, author’s purpose, etc. In my book, The ASVAB Tutor’s Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension Study Guide, I present tips on how to find the answers to these different types of questions. Do you know the techniques that help to answer cause and effect questions? I remind my students of the importance of learning cause and effect words to help answer cause and effect questions. Do you know which of the choices is not a cause-and-effect word?
I will present the answer and explanation tomorrow.
