Inspirational Quote

Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it. -Charles Swindell

As we go through life, we tend to become discouraged by things that happen in our lives.  Sometimes life does not go according to plan.  We experience setbacks, discouragements, failures, and losses.  No one makes it through life without something not going their way at some point.  Instead of focusing on what happened, we need to focus on how we will react to it.  It is how we react to life’s setbacks that count.  Today’s quote from Charles Swindell reminds us of this.  He states that only 10% of our lives are based on what happens to us, while 90% is how we respond to it.  As an ASVAB tutor, I see this firsthand with many of the people I meet in my classes. When people have not achieved the score they wanted, I see different people react differently.  I have seen some students become highly motivated to score better next time and pursue success on the exam as if their life depended on it.  I have seen others who refer to themselves as failures.  There is something called a self-fulfilling prophecy.  When you speak victory over your life, you are willing to put in the effort to make it happen.  When you speak discouragement and failure over your life, you have already given up the fight.  So let me remind you today to pay attention to how you react to the events in your life.  Fight the good fight and chase those dreams.
