Motivational Quote

You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take. -Wayne Gretzky

Wayne Gretzky is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and former head coach.  He played 20 seasons in the National Hockey League from 1979 to 1999.  His nickname was “the Great One”.  He is considered the greatest hockey player of all time by many.  He is the only National Hockey league player to total over 200 points in one season.  He achieved this four times.  In today’s quote, Wayne Gretzky reminds us that we miss all the shots we do not take.  It is better to try and fail than never to have tried at all.  As an ASVAB tutor, I meet many students that are so afraid of failing that they do not want to attempt taking the ASVAB.  I remind them that if they do not study and do not try to succeed, they did not even try.  If you do not try, you will not succeed.  Think of Wayne Gretzky, the only goals he scored were the ones he tried for.  It does not mean he scored on every shot he took, but he did not score on all the shots he did not take.  We all can learn from this quote.
