Sir Francis Bacon was an English Renaissance statesman and philosopher born in the 1500’s, best known for his promotion of the scientific method. He worked as attorney general and Lord Chancellor of England but resigned during charges of corruption. His most valuable work was in philosophy. He followed the ideas of Aristotle and came up with the scientific method. This method is the foundation of modern scientific inquiry. Sir Francis Bacon saw the value of knowledge. He viewed knowledge as power. As an educator and ASVAB tutor, I see the value of education which brings us knowledge. Knowledge in turn empowers us to achieve our goals. I remind my students to never lose sight of the value of education and to pursue knowledge in life. You will never regret learning. It can only lead you toward improvement in life.
