Today’s quote is from Les Brown, a powerful motivational speaker. When Les Brown speaks words of encouragement, he comes from a place where he has experienced adversity and setbacks and became an overcomer. He was abandoned with his twin brother as an infant and was adopted and raised by a single mother who worked as a cleaning woman. He was labeled as mentally retarded as a child. An inspirational teacher made him realize this false diagnosis could not hold him back. Les Brown reminds us to look up when life knocks us down. In looking up, we can get up. As an ASVAB tutor, I meet many students that could benefit from listening to speakers like Les Brown. He understands the struggles that life can present and tells his heartfelt story of overcoming. We all can use a never give up attitude in life. It is those who never give up that achieve their goals.
