If you want to change the world, you must be your very best in the darkest moment. -Admiral William McRaven
Admiral William McRaven is a retired U.S. Navy four-star admiral. He served as ninth commander of the United Stated Special Operations Command from 2011 to 2014, served as commander of Joint Special Operations Command from 2008 to 2011, and served as commander of Special Operations Command Europe from 2006 to 2008. He served in the Navy for over 37 years. Admiral McRaven spoke of the importance of being your best in your darkest moment in order to change to world. His wisdom comes from experience. In his 37 years of service and leadership in the U.S. Navy, he must have witnessed many dark moments. It is our ability to rise above these dark moments that counts. As an ASVAB tutor, I see how people can be discouraged in life when their plans do not work out. I have met people who have been held back from their goal of enlisting because of their ASVAB score, because of their struggles with physical fitness requirements, and because of their need to lose weight to enlist. Instead of focusing on their obstacles, the ones who will go on to change the world, focus on how they will overcome their obstacles. Be your best in the midst of adversity and be an overcomer.
