Motivational Monday

There are different types of teachers in the world.  Simply telling your students the information is the lowest level of instruction.  The next level involves and explanation.  After that comes the level of demonstration.  The highest level of instruction involves inspiration.  When I look back at all the teachers I had in my life, the ones who stand out in my mind are the ones who truly inspired me.  Two types of teachers stand out in my mind when I look back at my education: the worst ones and the best ones.  The worst teachers do not care about their students and view their career as just a job.  They do not see the far-reaching impact they can play in someone’s life.  The best teachers strive to make a difference in the world.  They know the impact they can make and spend every day working on encouraging and inspiring their students.

In my role as an ASVAB tutor, I work to not just convey the material to my students on the lowest level.  I seek to make the lessons taught in my ASVAB prep course to be memorable.  I remind my students that my goal is to help them to outsmart the test maker.  I seek to inspire my students with success stories of my past students and seek to make the learning environment positive and encouraging.  In addition to providing help to their ASVAB math and vocabulary, I seek to improve their mindset, giving them the encouragement they need to believe in themselves.
