What is x?
Today’s question involves solving an algebra problem with a fraction. As an ASVAB tutor, I realize that some of my students do not like algebra and some do not like fractions. This question involves the two in one. Knowing how to work with algebra is a critical part in being able to succeed on the Mathematics Knowledge section of the ASVAB. In my book, The ASVAB Tutor’s Mathematics Knowledge Study Guide, I review 15 subtopics in Mathematics Knowledge. One of these subtopics is algebra with fractions. To be able to solve for x in this problem it is necessary to get the x by itself. Do you know how to solve for x when there is a fraction in the problem? I will present the answer and explanation tomorrow.
