Arithmetic Reasoning

If Joe ran 5 miles, how many feet did he run?

Today’s question is a measurement question. As an ASVAB tutor, I know the importance of studying measurement conversions to prepare for the Arithmetic Reasoning section of the ASVAB.  I wrote and published a book entitled, The ASVAB Tutor’s Arithmetic Reasoning Study Guide.  This book consists of 15 subtopics in Arithmetic Reasoning.  Measurement is one of these subtopics.  I included conversions of all the basic units of measurement in the book for my students to review.  I remind my students to study distance measurements and their conversions including inches, feet, yards, and miles.  I emphasize the importance of studying liquid measurement including ounces, cups, pints, quarts, and gallons.  I tell my students to study weight measurements of ounces, pounds, and tons.  I also remind them to review metric measurements as well.  To solve today’s problem, it is necessary to know how many feet are in a mile.  Do you know how many feet are in a mile?  If so, how many feet are in 5 miles.  I will present the answer and explanation tomorrow.
