In working as an ASVAB tutor, I teach my students about the different types of questions that can appear on the Paragraph Comprehension section of the ASVAB. My book, The ASVAB Tutor’s Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension Study Guide, includes a review of the various types of questions and how to find the answer for different types of questions. The different types of questions include main idea, detail, vocabulary, cause and effect, sequence, inference, author’s tone, and author’s purpose. Every time an author writes a piece there is a purpose for writing the piece. Author’s purpose is the reason the piece was written. Do you know the author’s purpose in writing poetry? I will share the answer and explanation tomorrow.
