As an ASVAB tutor, I remind my students of the importance of knowing the different topics that appear on the Arithmetic Reasoning and Mathematics Knowledge sections of the ASVAB. Many of my students ask me the difference between the two sections. I remind them that the Arithmetic Reasoning section includes word problems while the Mathematic Knowledge section covers problems that involve topics like algebra and geometry. I tell my students that I believe Mathematics Knowledge is the easiest section to improve upon. I remind students that if they are solid with their formulas for geometry and if they know how to work on algebra that is the key to mastering Mathematics Knowledge. More people I meet struggle with Arithmetic Reasoning. Sometimes the trouble is understanding the wording of the questions. Do you know which topics is not a type of Arithmetic Reasoning question?
