Eleanor Roosevelt presents a powerful quote reminding us to believe in our dreams. Often in life, we are presented with the naysayers, those who doubt us and try to steer us away from our dreams. When we learn to believe in our dreams, powerful things happen. As an ASVAB tutor, I meet many people in my ASVAB prep course who have overcome great obstacles to enlist in the United States military. Many people have faced criticism in hearing words like “You will never make it.” I have met people who needed to lose 100 pounds to enlist. They heard negative words, “You need to lose so much weight. You should just give up. You will never lose the weight.” I have met people who were struggling with ASVAB vocabulary since English was their second language. They did not give in to those who doubted them. I have met people who needed help with ASVAB math. Their eyes were fixed on their goals and no negative words could stop them. I commend the people who continue to believe in the beauty of their dreams.
