Word Knowledge
Yesterday I presented the Word Knowledge question, “What does the prefix icon- or icono- mean? Do you know what the icon- or icono- means? Icon- or icono- means image. Examples of words that include this root are iconoclast, iconify, iconologies, iconoscopes, etc. In my ASVAB study guide for vocabulary entitled, The ASVAB Tutor’s Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension Study Guide, I included icon- and icono- on the list of prefixes and root words to be reviewed. I remind my students to not lose sight of the importance of knowing prefixes, root words and suffixes to enhance their vocabulary.
