In working as an ASVAB tutor, I remind my students of the importance of reviewing prefixes, root words, and suffixes. I wrote a book entitled, The ASVAB Tutor’s Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension Study Guide that reviews vocabulary, reading comprehension passages, and prefixes, root words, and suffixes. The suffix that means study of is -logy.
Words that have the suffix -logy include biology, anthropology, microbiology, pharmacology, rheumatology. Knowing suffixes helps to improve understanding of vocabulary words.
