Mathematics Knowledge

Yesterday I presented a question on perimeter.

What is the perimeter of a heptagon if the measure of one side is 4?

Finding perimeter is one of the skills that I remind my students to learn for the ASVAB.  Mathematics Knowledge is the section of the test that involves learning formulas for geometry.  I remind my students of the importance of knowing how to find perimeter, circumference, area, surface area, and volume.  Knowing the formulas makes a big difference in the score on the Mathematics Knowledge section of the test.  I tell my student that they do not need to remember any formulas for perimeter.  Just add up the lengths of all the sides. Today’s question asks about the perimeter of a heptagon.  A heptagon is a seven-sided shape.  Each side measures 4.

If there are 7 sides and each side measures 4, the perimeter is 7 x 4 = 28.

The perimeter of this heptagon is 28.

Did you know how to solve this problem?
