Arithmetic Reasoning

Yesterday I presented a question about miles and feet.

If Joe ran 5 miles, how many feet did he run?

Measurement is one of the subtopics I cover in my ASVAB prep course review of Arithmetic Reasoning.  This question involves measurement of distance.

Knowing conversions of distance measurements is an important part in preparing for the Arithmetic Reasoning section of the ASVAB.  I remind my students to study the conversions of inches, feet, yards, and miles.

There are 12 inches in 1 foot.

There are 3 feet in 1 yard.

There are 1760 yards in 1 mile.

There are 5280 feet in 1 mile.

To answer this question, you need to know how many feet are in a mile.

There are 5280 feet in one mile.

If there are 5280 feet in one mile, to figure out how many feet are in 5 miles,

you need to multiply 5280 x 5 = 26,400 feet.

Did you know how to solve this problem?
