As an ASVAB tutor, I review both types of math that appear on the ASVAB. The two math sections are Arithmetic Reasoning and Mathematics Knowledge. Arithmetic Reasoning covers the word problems that appear on the ASVAB. Mathematics Knowledge consists of algebra and geometry questions. Of the answer choices, area, volume, and algebra do appear on the Mathematics Knowledge section of the ASVAB. Miles per gallon is a topic that will not appear on the Mathematics Knowledge section of the ASVAB.
