Mathematics Knowledge
Yesterday I presented a question about the area of a triangle.
If the triangle has an area of 20 and a base of 5, what is the height?
In my ASVAB prep course, I teach my students the necessary formulas for geometry. Students need to know formulas for area, volume, and surface area. As an ASVAB tutor, I let my students know the importance of knowing the formulas for geometry. Not knowing the formulas will cost them points on the Mathematics Knowledge section of the ASVAB.
The formula for the area of a triangle is ½ x base x height
If the area is 20 and the base is 5,
A = ½ x base x height
20 = ½ x 5 x h
4 = ½ x h
8 = h
The height is 8.
Did you know how to solve this problem?
