Paragraph Comprehension
Yesterday I presented a question on author’s tone.
What is the author’s tone in a biography?
- factual
- funny
- condescending
- critical
In teaching my ASVAB prep course, I remind my students of the different types of questions on the Paragraph Comprehension section of the test. In my book, The ASVAB Tutor’s Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension Study Guide, I present author’s tone as one of the various types of questions that can appear on the reading section of the ASVAB. The author’s tone can be positive, negative, or neutral. In writing a biography, the author would be presenting facts. The tone would be factual which is generally a neutral viewpoint.
