Arithmetic Reasoning
Yesterday I presented a question about the types of topics covered on the Arithmetic Reasoning section of the ASVAB.
Which skill is not tested on the Arithmetic Reasoning section of the ASVAB?
- proportions
- percentages
- distance
- algebra
Arithmetic Reasoning would cover proportions, percentages, and distance among many other topics. Algebra would appear on the Mathematics Knowledge section of the exam.
As an ASVAB tutor, I remind my students of the importance of knowing the types of math that can appear on the Arithmetic Reasoning section and the Mathematics Knowledge section. The two sections have different types of math questions. I wrote a book entitled The ASVAB Tutor’s Arithmetic Reasoning Study Guide that consists of 15 subtopics:
- basic operations
- decimals
- fractions
- mixed numbers
- percentages
- percent, fraction, decimal conversions
- proportions
- ratios
- tax, tip, commission, overtime
- interest rate
- patterns and sequences
- probability and consecutive integers
- distance and rate
- miles per gallon and using algebra to solve word problems
- measurement
