Inspirational Quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson
What we fear of doing most is usually what we most need to do.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
In life, there are many thing that we need to work on. We plan things out in our minds. We make lists. We write things on our calendars and planners. It seems that no matter how hard we try to achieve all our goals, there are some that we seem to avoid working on. Ralph Waldo Emerson makes a powerful statement in saying that what we usually fear doing is what we need to do most. Perhaps it is the item on your to do list that you always place last. Think about what you are afraid of doing. Take a step forward and stand up to your fears.
In teaching my ASVAB prep course, I meet countless students who need to improve in different areas of the test to achieve their desired scores. The funny thing is I notice that people seem to avoid studying for their most difficult area. As an ASVAB tutor, I have students who struggle with Word Knowledge. When I ask them if they have been studying vocabulary, many of them say, “Not yet.” I have other students who need help with the ASVAB math subtests. When I ask them if they reviewed the Math on their own, many of them say, “Not yet.” It is funny how people work on the areas where they are already strong. Step outside your comfort zone. Stand up to the area where you experience fear and make achievements on a whole new level.
