Arithmetic Reasoning
One topic in Arithmetic Reasoning that many students are intimidated by is the topic of distance and rate. I included the topic of distance and rate in my book entitled, The ASVAB Tutor’s Arithmetic Reasoning Study Guide. Many people are overwhelmed when they see questions on trains moving opposite directions. I tell my students that these are some of my favorite questions. I remind them that when they see how easy they are, they will like them best too. Today’s question is: If 2 trains travel in opposite directions and one travels north at 60 mph and the other travels south at 40 mph, how far apart will they be in 5 hours? Do you know how to solve this problem? I will present the answer and explanation tomorrow
