What is the author’s purpose in writing a novel?
As an ASVAB tutor, I discuss the different types of questions that appear on the Paragraph Comprehension section of the ASVAB. Author’s purpose is one of the types of questions that can appear on the test. The author’s purpose is the reason the author wrote the story. Three of the most common types of author’s purpose are: to inform, to entertain, and to persuade. To inform involves presenting facts. To entertain is to provide an interesting, funny, scary story, etc. To persuade is to convince someone of something. What do you think the author’s purpose is in writing a novel? I will present the answer and explanation tomorrow.
