What is 30% of 50?
As an ASVAB tutor, I explain to my students that percentages are an important part of the Arithmetic Reasoning section of the ASVAB. One of the 15 subtopics in Arithmetic Reasoning that I cover is percentages. Many word problems involve the use of percentages. I remind my students that if they are not solid in working with percentages that they are not thoroughly prepared for the Arithmetic Reasoning section of the ASVAB. Today’s question involves percentages. I teach my students to solve this problem by using a proportion. It can also be solved in another way that does not involve a proportion. Do you know how to solve this problem? I will present the answer and explanation tomorrow.
