Which is a main idea question?

  1. What happened first in the story?
  2. What is a good title for the story?
  3. Where did the story take place?
  4. What does the word “countenance” mean?

As an ASVAB tutor, I remind my students of the different types of questions that appear on the Paragraph Comprehension section of the ASVAB.  One of these types of questions is a main idea question.  Main idea questions ask what the whole story is about.  It is the central point or thought that the author wants to convey to others.  Do you know which of the questions is a main idea question?  I will present the answer tomorrow.
