Word Knowledge Answer and Explanation
In my role as an ASVAB tutor, I make sure to review ASVAB vocabulary words in my ASVAB prep course. I work to review commonly used ASVAB words. My ASVAB study guide for vocabulary and reading comprehension also presents prefixes, root words, suffixes, and reading comprehension passages.
Yesterday I presented an ASVAB vocabulary word that could appear on the Word Knowledge section of the ASVAB. The word is rue.
The question is:
What does the word “rue” mean?
- Regret
- Due
- Rejoice
- Forget
Today I present a video that uses the word “rue” in the context of a sentence.
The video presents my cat, Mr. Cuddles® dressed as a firefighter. He says, “We arrived at the scene of a fire that had been set on purpose. This fire destroyed three homes, and it’s a very upsetting thing to see, but we know that the day will come when the one who set the fire will rue the day that he did this. It might not be today, but he will be sorry and he will regret what he did.”
Does the context provide a clue to the meaning of “rue”?
The word “rue” means Choice A. regret.
