Word Knowledge Answer
My book, The ASVAB Tutor’s Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension Study Guide, consists of over 500 common ASVAB vocabulary words for review.
Yesterday I presented an ASVAB vocabulary word. Today’s word is “prohibit”. It is one of the words in my book.
Prohibit is one of many words that could appear on the Word Knowledge section of the ASVAB.
The question is:
What does prohibit mean?
A. To promote
B. To inhabit
C. To forbid
D. To exceed
To present the meaning of the word today, I posted a video of my cat, Mr. Cuddles®, presenting the word “prohibit” in the context of sentences. The context of the sentences give clues to the meaning of the word. In the video, the cat is dressed up as a firefighter. Mr. Cuddles® said, “At the scene of the fire, we needed to prohibit people from returning into the burning building. We prevented them from going in, to keep them safe.” The meaning of the word “prohibit” is to forbid or prevent. The correct answer is Choice C. To forbid.
