Today is the explanation for yesterday’s Arithmetic Reasoning problem on percentages. This is a topic I cover in my ASVAB prep course. As one who tutors for the ASVAB, I know the importance of teaching percentages to my students to help improve their ASVAB math scores. In this example to figure out what percentage 1/8 is, I teach my students to set up a proportion.
1/8 = x/100
Cross multiply and solve.
8x = 100
x = 12.5%
