Paragraph Comprehension

Today’s post includes a question about author’s purpose.  What is the author’s purpose in writing an advertisement about a political candidate?  Is it to inform, to persuade, to entertain or to encourage?  As an ASVAB tutor, I teach my students about the importance of recognizing author’s purpose in a writing piece.  Author’s purpose is the reason that the author wrote the story.  This is one of the various types of questions that can appear on the Paragraph Comprehension section of the ASVAB.  Do you know the answer to today’s question?  I will present the answer tomorrow.
