National Vietnam War Veteran’s Day
In my role as an ASVAB tutor, I present various miltary holidays and anniversaries. Today is one of these days. Today, March 29, is National Vietnam War Veteran’s Day. The Vietnam War Recognition Act of 2017 was signed into law by 45th U.S. President Donald J. Trump. This act declared March 29 as National Vietnam War Veteran’s Day. This day was chosen because March 29, 1973 was the day that the United States Military Assistance Command, Vietnam was disestablished. It was also the last day that the U.S. combat troops left Vietnam. Around this day was the day that Hanoi released the last of its acknowledged prisoners of war.
The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration honors all veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time from November 1, 1955 to May 1, 1975, no matter where they were located.
