Les Brown is a powerful motivational speaker. Achievements in life did not come easily for him. Abandoned by his mother as an infant and labeled as mentally retarded as a child, he had much to overcome. Fortunately, Les Brown met a teacher that encouraged him to believe in himself and to develop a never give up attitude. Les Brown learned to not take the opinions of others to heart. He went on to influence thousands around the world with his speeches. True success does not come from taking the easy route. As an ASVAB tutor, I try to convey this message to my students. Some students try to study as little as possible, hoping to achieve the score they want. A number of them fail as a result and need to take the test repeatedly in order to achieve their goals. Others put their heart and soul into studying. They spend long hours studying and they reap the rewards. We all need to realize that we get out of life what we put into it.
