For Motivation Monday, I would like to introduce SFC Lewis Swartz. He is a First Class Sergeant for the New York Army National Guard stationed in New York City. SFC Swartz has worked as a military recruiter for years, a job in which he has taken great pride in helping people to achieve their dream of enlisting in the military. He had a dream of his own, to become a drill sergeant. He is not one to shy away from hard work, and he took on this challenge head on. SFC Swartz added the title of drill sergeant to his repertoire. In doing so, he was able to maintain his job as recruiter and serve as drill sergeant. In his own words, he said he has “the best of both worlds” in his two job roles. He is able to recruit people to join the military and able to train people in his role of drill sergeant. SFC Swartz is highly motivational and runs an Instagram page, entitled Team Swartz. If you ever had a question about the military, SFC Swartz has the answer! His videos include exercise tips, ASVAB tips, military rules and regulations, the list goes on. His posts are always an inspiration.
If you want to join the military, you need to be sure to be prepared for what military life holds in store for you. SFC Swartz’s page will reinforce the importance of physical fitness as well as ASVAB preparedness. As someone who tutors for the ASVAB, I understand the importance of receiving help for ASVAB math, arithmetic, reading and vocabulary. I also understand the importance of finding motivation where you need it. If you are looking for motivation, then as SFC Swartz says, “Hooahlujah”, you will find it in SFC Swartz’s video posts!
