Mathematics Knowledge Question

In working as an ASVAB tutor, I place a strong emphasis on geometry and algebra to prepare my students for the Mathematics Knowledge section of the ASVAB.  My ASVAB prep students are reminded to review the formulas for area, circumference, volume, and surface area.

Today I present a Mathematics Knowledge question.

This question is a geometry question about circles.  In working with circles, I remind my students to know the formulas for the circumference of a circle, the area of a circle, the value of p as 3.14, and the difference between radius and diameter.

The question is:

If the radius of a circle is 15, what is the diameter?

  1. 5
  2. 30
  3. 60
  4. 120

Do you know how the length of the radius compares to the length of the diameter?

I will present the answer and explanation tomorrow.
