Mathematics Knowledge

Mathematics Knowledge is one of the four main sections of the ASVAB.  This section of the ASVAB covers algebra and geometry and a few other topics.  As an ASVAB tutor, I remind my students of the importance of learning the necessary formulas for the 2 math sections of the ASVAB.  To prepare for the geometry questions, it is necessary to study the formulas for area, surface area, and volume of a variety of shapes.

Today I present a Mathematics Knowledge question.

This question is a geometry question about the area of a triangle.

The question is:

What is the area of a triangle with a base of 6 and a height of 8?

  1. 12
  2. 14
  3. 24
  4. 48

In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to know the formula for the area of a triangle.  Do you know the formula for the area of a triangle.  I will present the formula, the answer, and explanation tomorrow.
