Memorial Day
In working as an ASVAB tutor, I work to present American military holidays, observances, and holidays in my blog on my website. 1sToday is Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a federal holiday meant for mourning the United States military men and women who have lost their lives in serving in the U.S. armed forces. It is observed on the last Monday of May each year. The date changes each year based on when the last Monday of May falls. The first Memorial Day was celebrated in 1868. In the past, from 1868 to 1970, it was observed on May 30th each year. In honor of this day, many Americans visit cemeteries and memorials to honor and mourn the military members who make the ultimate sacrifice during their service in the military.
