Solve for x Answer
As an ASVAB tutor, I focus on various subtopics in Mathematics Knowledge. Algebra is an important skill to know for the Mathematics Knowledge section of the ASVAB. One of the subtopics I review within algebra is solve for x.
Yesterday I presented an example for Mathematics Knowledge which involves solving for x.
The question asks us to solve for x.
5(x+1) = 3(x+3)
- X = 0
- X = 1
- X = 2
- X = 3
In order to solve this problem, first it is necessary to work on distribution.
5(x+1) = 3(x+3)
5x+5 = 3x +9
Subtract 3x from both sides
2x + 5 = 9
Subtract 5 from each side.
2x = 4
Divide both sides by 2.
X = 2
The answer is choice C. x = 2.
