Main Idea Question
In my role as an ASVAB tutor, I focus on discussing the different types of questions that appear on the Paragraph Comprehension section of the ASVAB. Different types of questions that can appear on the Paragraph Comprehension section of the ASVAB are: main idea, detail, sequence, inference, vocabulary, cause and effect, author’s purpose, and author’s tone.
Today I present a question on Paragraph Comprehension. This question asks about examples of main idea questions.
Which of the following is NOT an example of a main idea question?
- What is the main idea of the story?
- What was the final outcome of the story?
- What would be a good title for the story?
- What is the story mostly about?
Three of these questions are main idea questions and one is not.
