Success is getting what you want.

Happiness is wanting what you get.

-W.P. Kinsella

In life, we are constantly aiming for success.  Everyone has a different definition of what success is to them.  W.P. Kinsella, a Canadian writer, differentiated between success and happiness in his quote, “Success is getting what you want.  Happiness is wanting what you get.”  Many times in life we do not always get exactly what we hoped for.  We need to learn to find happiness in the way things have happened.  In working as an ASVAB tutor, I meet many people with the goal of enlisting in the U.S. military.  Many need help with ASVAB math or ASVAB vocabulary in order to achieve their desired score.  For many of them, their short-term definition of success is passing the ASVAB and enlisting.  Their happiness depends on how they embrace what life puts in their path.  In life, we continuously aim for one success after another and seek to find happiness in the outcome.  Take time to find joy in all your achievements in life.
