Strive for progress, not perfection. -Unknown

As an ASVAB tutor, I remind my students to be happy with progress. Striving for perfection is not the goal.  I tell my students there are different levels of understanding when it comes to ASVAB questions.  The lowest level is not understanding how to solve the problem.  The next level is being able to solve the problem but not completing it in the right time frame.  The final level is being able to solve the problem within the time limit.  There is a very limited amount of time provided for the questions on the ASVAB.  Many of my students struggle with the time limits for the math sections.  On Arithmetic Reasoning, the test usually provides about a 2 minute time limit.  On Mathematics Knowledge, the test usually provide about a 1 minute time limit.  I remind my students to first work to be able to solve the problems without concern of the time limit.  As time passes, I remind them of the importance of beating the time limit. Before taking the real ASVAB, it is important to be able to solve the problems and beat the time limit.  I remind my students to be proud of each step they take toward their goal in ASVAB test prep.
