Motivation determines what you do.
Attitude determines how well you do it.
In life, we think achievement is based entirely on ability level. In reality, there is much more involved in achievement than ability level. In working as an ASVAB tutor for over a decade, I have seen this time and time again in working with students in my ASVAB prep course. Ability level alone is not enough to guarantee success in life. It needs to be combined with motivation and a positive attitude. Students that start classes with a positive mindset and an attitude of overcoming tend to be more successful than students who with a sense of negativity and a defeated attitude. When I provide help in ASVAB math and vocabulary, I encourage a positive mindset on the part of my students. I remind them that they can overcome this test and outsmart the testmakers and achieve their goals of enlisting in the United States military.
