Mahatma Gandhi was a political and spiritual leader in India. He served as an inspiration for people who sought equal rights. Gandhi said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” In life, we need to think about how we want to make the world a better place. One kind word at a time. One good deed at a time. One helping hand at a time. As an ASVAB tutor, I know my job is to teach my ASVAB prep course. My primary goal is to help improve people’s math and vocabulary skills. However, I do not lose sight of the importance of making the world a better place. When a new student comes to me with a sense of discouragement because they failed the test before, I share other success stories to lift their spirits. When I have a student who struggles with vocabulary, I seek to find another student who struggles in math to be his study partner and friend. When I see someone lose motivation, I work to encourage them. People know I am more than just a person who solves math problems. I see the value of the life of each person I teach and work to help them achieve their dreams.
