Les Brown is a powerful motivational speaker. He was abandoned along with his twin brother as an infant. A single woman adopted them and worked multiply jobs to keep food on the table. Mr. Brown met obstacles along the way. He was mistakenly labeled as mentally retarded. This was a label he believed until a special teacher came into his life and made him realize that others’ opinions of you do not matter. From the moment he met that teacher, his life took a turn for the better. Les Brown became the type of person where his fears would not hold him back. Not only did he not allow his fears to stop him, but he has spent his life touring and giving motivational speeches to encourage people around the world not to give up on their dreams. As an ASVAB tutor, I can only hope that I can be the type of teacher that Les Brown’s teacher was. I want to give hope to those who have become hopeless. I want people to go after their goals in life and never give up. I want to encourage people to live their dreams not their fears.
